Volume Rendering
Current Work
In the images with primarily red color you can see the heart, spine, kidneys, and pelvis. The third image displays the lungs with a pink color and bones as white. In the upper right hand corner or each image is an orientation cube. As the user rotates the volume so does the cube. Each face is labeled with a letter designating the position of the anatomy: H for head, F for feet, L for left, R for right, A for anterior, and P for posterior.
Thesis Work
Here are a few images of the volumetric anatomical structures I rendered with the system I programmed for my master’s thesis.
I used the Visible Human data and OpenGL to create these images on a Pentium 4 with 1GB of RAM and a GeForce3 graphics card. The Visible Human data was gathered by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). To learn more about The Visible Human Project® visit NLM’s website.
