NHL 09

I’m looking forward to a vacation later this month and when I received a jury summons in the mail this week I just about flipped. Luckily the summons falls on a day after my vacation and it does say you can ask for a postponement, but would they have granted me one, I don’t know.

I’ve mentioned in a previous post that I bought EA’s NHL 09 for the XBOX 360. The controls take some getting used to, but I managed to get Alexis to play the shootouts and she occasionally wins. Here’s a video of one of her goals:

Tyler has also been coming over on the weekends to play. Here’s a screenshot from a practice goal where the puck is going off of the defenders face.

Good Times

This weekend was a blast. Dustin and Hunter visited and Alexis had a birthday. Friday night Alexis and I went over to my Mom’s place and had dinner, tried to watch Galaxy Quest, and talked all night. We took some pictures of Hunter that I may post sometime this week. Sunday, Alexis and I went out to eat at Genghis Grill and went shopping. Alexis bought some boxes to put her colored pencils in and a cordless mini-mouse for her netbook. On a side note, I keep forgetting to tell my Dad that if he doesn’t mind a tiny 10″ screen, that a netbook is very affordable and probably all he needs.

I ended up buying EA NHL’09, which I had downloaded as a demo on the 360. I still need to keep playing the games in my back log, but couldn’t resist picking it up. It’s just too much fun. Maybe I can guide the Dallas Stars to victory in the game, because their season looks like it will end soon. I’m not confident that they can make it to the playoffs. In fact odds are they won’t make it, if I understand this website correctly. Richards broke his left hand in the last game just as he was returning from a right wrist injury. So the Stars can’t seem to find any luck, much less the back of the net.

Conquered Twilight Princess

Today I finally beat “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess”. It took me a long time to get through it, almost two years. I didn’t have as much fun playing it as Alexis did. Some of the areas seemed too big, as if the developers wanted the player to think it was a sandbox game like “Grand Theft Auto” or “Crackdown”. Although, it is possible those games have spoiled me with their city-scapes that have subtle detail around every corner. Exploring vast amounts of undeveloped countryside doesn’t appeal to me. I did like the ability to switch to a wolf in order to use the sense of smell and howl a tune. Unfortunately, howling a tune only unlocked a location to learn a new sword technique. It really boils down to the fact that I really liked “Ocarina of Time” and “Wind Waker,” and “Twilight Princess” was far different from those two Zelda games.

My post from April 29th 2008 with images of cats is getting a lot of attention. I may have to post some more. The software on the hosting server shows that Google images has indexed the images and other people are also linking to them. It would be better if those individuals linking to the images would copy the image to their server instead of using a link to my website. There’s a limit to the bandwidth that my site can dish out. I’m nowhere near using the maximum yet, so it’s not a big deal at the moment.
